Wide-Web Coating from AET Films
 For over three decades AET has used various coating technologies to provide packaging, labeling and industrial solutions to our customers. AET is building on this technical and operating platform to offer custom coating services.
We offer a variety of aqueous primers and coatings for substrates in gauges of 40 and up in both oriented and cast films including: polypropylene, polyester, nylon, and polyethylene as well as nonwovens, paper and paperboard.

Coating Technology at AET
AET has a dedicated staff of R&D professionals that work specifically on new developments in materials science and they also support customer-supplied formulations. At our Covington, VA facility, we have a staff of onsite process engineers that are dedicated to providing technical solutions for our customers.
Equipment capability:
- Wide web: 50" to 110" wide material
- High speed: typically operate at 600 to 1200 FPM
- Two gravure stations; can coat one side of the web twice per pass
- High efficiency supported-web dryers incorporate infrared, conductive and zoned forced-air heat
- Both sides of web are cooled on exit from dryers
- Driven no-nip web transport sections and low inertia idlers provide maximum control without web damage
- Constant line scanning ensures consistent coating coverage
- Corona pre-treat capability, one or both sides
- Static elimination systems
- State-of-the-art onsite slitting from 6" to 125"
In addition to our custom coating capabilities, AET also offers a variety of coated products in the following categories:
- Clear Barrier - Moisture and oxygen barrier, in products such as UBS-2 and UBP, where package product visibility is desired
- Modified Permeability - Combines moisture and oxygen barrier with ability to outgas CO2. Could be applied to manage flow of other gases
- Sealable, Controlled COF - Coating heat seals to itself; COF is managed to optimize fill-line process-ability. Try HDR when you need a sealable, controlled COF film
- Print and Adhesion Receptive - Coating is an excellent bond surface for inks and adhesives in AET's GRX
- Protective - Allows use of metal side out through use of clear, protective over-coating
- Embossable - Accepts holographic emboss such as AET's ABOSS
- Heat Activated Adhesive - Film is precoated with adhesive for use in heatednip type laminations such as CPHA and MPHA
