Flexible packaging is widely used in the U.S. with food representing a significant part of the market. When evaluating the type of substrate you need for your next package design, think OPP. Snacks
The snack market continues to put a high priority on graphic appeal and barrier requirements that provide better taste and freshness to the consumer. AET offers the standard of the industry in reverse printable films including T523-3 (a stable COF slip film), PST-2 (an outstanding sealable film) and AQS, the clearest and most consistent running film that can be used as both the inside and outside web. For the inside web, AET offers films with high oxygen barrier and excellent sealability, including metallized MVT and PVdC-coated UBS-2.

Baked Goods
AET's films offer a number of important properties specifically designed to preserve the "freshness" for the baked goods industry. For breakfast and energy bars, the lamination of a non-sealable metallized film to a clear, glossy outside film offers excellent barrier for impulsive graphics.

AET also produces several films for cookie tray overwrap, where surface print coex is the package of choice. Finally, in the cracker and biscuit market, metallized OPP film has replaced MET PET in many bag-in-box applications.

Box Overwrap

Confections

Note: When the white opaque and metallized films are used in surface print, single-web applications with cold seal, a converter applied overlacquer is required.
