NEWEST, BREATHABLE FILM FOR FRESH-CUT PRODUCE

NEW CASTLE, DE - AET Films has announced the availability of their
HOTR™2 film developed especially for fresh-cut produce packaging. The product is an extension of the company's HOTR™ family of oriented polypropylene (OPP) films for fresh-cut produce packaging applications. Available in 55 and 70-gauge, HOTR™2offers oxygen transmission rates (OTR) of 175 - 325 cc / 100 in2 / 24 hours inlaminations to polyethylene.
The film's breathability performance is based on proprietary polymer chemistry to achieve permeability, as opposed to other processes that mechanically alter films for permeability. "This provides product protection from outside contaminants, the maintenance of flavor compounds, and improve moisture control within the produce," states Mike Bosky, AET Market Manager. The Beta Value of this film is 3.5 - 4.0 versus a Beta Value of 1.0 for mechanically altered structures. "This provides a more suitable package atmosphere for extending the shelf life of many produce items," adds Bosky.
HOTR™2 provides a crinkly feel that communicates freshness, just like the 40 to 120-gauge conventional OPP films and the first generation HOTR™ in AET's fresh-cut produce portfolio. HOTR™2 also provides superior optical properties to support crisp, high-impact graphics for enhanced shelf presence and exhibits consistent slip properties for optimum performance across packaging equipment.
